Sesquicentennial Celebration
Community Park
August 12th- 15th, 2004
The City of O’Fallon is gearing up to celebrate its 150th anniversary with all our residents. We have a fabulous celebration planned that will not only commemorate our past, but also represent our present and future. The Sesquicentennial Celebration will take place August 12th, 13th, 14th, and 15th, 2004 at and around O’Fallon’s Community Park. In addition to a fun-filled weekend of carnival rides, the Miss Sesquicentennial Pageant, and the parade, planned activities include a 5k run, a bike ramble, an antique car show, and displays of model trains, fire trucks, police and military
vehicles.
Throughout the weekend, residents will be able to walk around and observe period artisans, The Turkeyfoot Free Trappers, magicians, jugglers and more. Friday night, the Smash Band will be providing musical entertainment, and on Saturday night, you can catch both Dixie Express and the Well Hungarians at either of our two stages. The weekend festival will culminate with a laser light show on Thursday, Friday and Saturday night August 12th, 13th and 14th to be held after dark at O’Fallon Township High School’s practice fields on Weber Road. Then, on Sunday, join in on the Family Day festivities! The day starts off with a Chuckwagon Pancake Breakfast.
Later, come watch the Guns, Hoses, and Bandages Competition, where the O’Fallon Police, Fire, and EMS Departments face off. And don’t miss out on the ice cream social, where the Beard-growing contest winners will be announced. After that come plenty more family oriented activities and events including potato sack races, croquet tournaments, husband-calling, pickle-eating, and watermelon seed-spitting contests, and much more. The activities and events will present an opportunity for all residents to come together in celebration of our great community. We would like for the entire community to be involved in the planning and execution of this grand event and welcome anyone who would like to participate either as a volunteer or sponsor. You won’t want to miss it!
