O’Fallon Veterans’ Monument Perpetual Tribute
The O’Fallon Veterans’ Monument, located on Wesley Drive just west of Seven Hills Road, will accept applications for 4212008_42408_0.pnginclusion on the monument pillars on an ongoing basis.  All honorably discharged veterans who lived in O’Fallon School District #203 at any point in their lives are eligible.  There are two cutoff dates annually.  The deadline for submission of applications for Memorial Day was February 29, 2008, and the deadline for the Veterans’ Day ceremony is September 1, 2008.  Applications are available at O’Fallon City Hall, the O’Fallon Township building, VFW Post #805 or visit the web site at www.ofallonveteransmonument.org.  If you need further information, please call 618.632.3204.



Memorial Day Services
O’Fallon’s Memorial Day Services will be held at the O’Fallon City Cemetery, 601 N. Oak Street, at 9 a.m.  In addition, a service and dedication of newly-inscribed names on the Veterans’ Monument will begin at 11:30 a.m. at the Monument on Wesley Drive.



Mayor Graham Attended IML Spring Board Meeting
Mayor Gary L. Graham attended the spring board meeting of the Illinois Municipal League (IML) held April 10 in Springfield.  Mayor Graham serves as First Vice President of the organization.

During the meeting, State Comptroller Dan Hynes spoke on the fiscal conditions of the Illinois economy.  Illinois Department of Revenue Director Biran Hamer also addressed the Board regarding the current economy.  Municipal League staff provided updates on the 2008 legislative proposals and recent legal activities.  Board members also heard reports from the Audit, Executive and Municipal Managers Committees, in addition to reports from the statewide regional municipal associations and the National League of Cities and the U.S. Conference of Mayors.

Mayor Graham stated, “It has been a great honor to serve on the IML Board of Directors for the past several years and I look forward to continuing my work this year”.

The IML is a statewide association representing 1114 Illinois cities and villages.  The League serves as a voice of Illinois municipalities in matters of commmon interest and on issues before the Illinois General Assembly, Congress and state and federal regulatory agencies.



SIUE Small Business Development Center
Business Basic Workshop Series Coming to O’Fallon
The City of O’Fallon and the O’Fallon Chamber of Commerce are pleased to announce that we have partnered with the SIUE Small Business Development Center (SBDC) to bring a monthly Business Basic Workshop series to O’Fallon.  The series will address the fundamentals of business ownership.
 
The first workshop was held on Thursday, April 10, 2008 at the O’Fallon Public Safety Facility in the Community Room.  To make it easier for business owners to attend, sessions begin at 4 p.m. and end at 6 p.m., with 30 to 45 minutes allotted for questions.

SIUE’s Small Business Development Center charges a small administrative fee for each session.  Please contact Jane Bagent at 650.2929 or Esra at 482.8330 for registration details.

In addition to the workshop sessions, a representative of the SBDC will be available once per month for three to four hours to meet one-on-one with business owners to discuss specific issues related to individual businesses.  The counseling services are provided free of charge.  A schedule can be obtained by calling Jane at 650.2929.

All you entrepreneurs out there are encouraged to take advantage of this great opportunity to gain knowledge that will assist you in managing and operating your business to its optimum capacity.



The Regency Conference Center
Construction on the new Regency Conference Center located at 400 Regency Park Drive (Exit 16), is progressing on schedule.  If your group or organization is looking for a new location to hold your meeting or conference, bookings for July 2008 and beyond are currently being accepted.  For more information, call Cat Phillips at 624.4499.



Telephone Book Recycling Program
The City of O’Fallon is again participating in the St. Clair County Health Department’s Spring Telephone Book Recycling Program.  The program runs from April 1 to May 31, 2008.  

For your convenience, recycling bins for telephone directories are located at the O’Fallon Post Office, 1111 South Lincoln and at O’Fallon City Hall, 255 South Lincoln.  For more information on the telephone book recycling program, please call St. Clair County Pollution Prevention staff at 618.233.7769.
