New Library Software
The O’Fallon Library will be receiving new software in the very near future that will provide enhanced cataloging services to our customers.
The new software is expected to be operational by spring and comes to us via our membership in the Lewis & Clark Library System.
Look for big improvements in the types of services the library can provide in the building as well as via the internet.
Friends of the Library Raised $4,500
The Friends of the Library held their annual used book sale in October and successfully raised and donated $4,500 to the library.
In years past, the library has used the donation to purchase audiobooks, DVD’s, equipment and furnishings.
The Friends are always looking for new members. Brochures can be found at the library and on our website at www.ofallonlibrary.org.
O’Fallon Women’s Club Donated over $12,000
The O’Fallon Women’s Club donated over $12,000 to the Youth Services Department at the library.
These funds are the result of all the members’ hard work on the Prince and Princess Contest that was held during the Sesquicentennial Celebration in August.
The Youth Services staff uses these proceeds to purchase children’s reference and other special materials.
The Compassionate Friends
The library was pleased to receive a small collection of materials for adults and children from The Compassionate Friends Organization.
This group’s mission is to assist families in their grief following the death of a child or sibling.
The books donated are available to all card-holders throughout our library system.
Brochures on the mission of The Compassionate Friends can be found in the library along with contact information.
Book Discussion Group
Don’t forget the Book Discussion Group that meets in the library on the 4th Monday of each month, with the exception of December. Meetings are held at 7 p.m. in the large meeting room.
January’s selection is No Ordinary Time by Doris Kearns Goodwin.
The selections for each month can be found on the library’s bulletin board and on the library’s website.
Works of Local Artist on Display
The works of local artist, Ed Bazan, will be shown in the library through February.
Working in the media of colored pencil, Mr. Bazan recreates famous oil paintings of the Renaissance.
Featured in this showing are works based on paintings by DaVinci, Bougureau and Raphael. See his work on the Mezzanine level and marvel at his technique.
