Automatic Meter Reading (AMR)
Professional Meters, Inc. (PMI) is nearing completion of the installation of the 14,000+ automatic water meter reading units on the City’s water system (O’Fallon, Fairview Heights, and surrounding areas). The $2.8 million effort allows monthly radio reading of all meters with seamless loading into the billing system and production of individual bills. Manual reading of meters is time consuming, costly, and very strenuous work. We anticipate the cost of the automated system with all its efficiencies will be recouped in as little as seven years.
Delay of Water Bills
The installation of the new automatic meter reading units has unfortunately delayed our water billings by as much as two months.
We appreciate your patience and cooperation in our efforts to improve our water system, and we will work with you to facilitate your payment. If you suspect that your meter is not working properly, please call Engineering at 624-4500, extension 3.
We’ve Made it Easy for You to Pay Your Water & Sewer Bill On-line
Simply go to our website at www.ofallon.org and click on the E-Government link; then choose the Make Water/Sewer E-payment link. You may use MasterCard, Visa, Discover, American Express or E-check to pay your bill.
You may also sign a contract with the Water Department to have the amount of the bill directly bank-drafted from your savings or checking account.

Phase V Water Main Replacement
The rather messy business of replacing aging water mains in Southview Gardens is complete. However, the alternative of no water service due to ruptured lines is not acceptable. Therefore, the City of O’Fallon has had a long standing program to replace the aging smaller lines in our water service area with larger ones as needed. We appreciate the cooperation of those we affected in this work. Please know it is done to provide you the best service possible.
