Satellite Imagery
With aerial photos only taken every 3 years by St. Clair County, O’Fallon has contracted with SPOT Satellite Imagery to provide a
November 2006 fly over. The imagery provided is not of the same quality as provided by aircraft, but it is of a clarity that new construction can be tracked to allow update of property parcels where new construction has or is occurring. Additionally, the imagery is in a digital format that can be corrected for distortion and placed on top of digital subdivision construction plans allowing for inventorying of new streets, water and sewer mains, and assist in storm water management as well as other infrastructure and city management issues.
Did you Know?
Residents who experience Charter Cable TV or Pipeline (internet) non-storm related outages can call Charter Communications at 800-211-4450 and request a credit be placed on their account. The call won’t get your service restored any quicker, but it will at least compensate you some for the inconvenience.
Visual Preference Survey Report and Recommendations
During September and October, the City Planning and Zoning Department and the consulting firm Arcturis conducted a community-wide Visual Preference Survey (VPS) with a goal of establishing a community-wide consensus on architectural design, open space, and neighborhood design standards for new residential developments. Arcturis coordinated citizen input through a series of workshops and on-line survey participation where O’Fallon residents shared their views and preferences on these community
design issues. The results of the survey effort, along with the consultant’s preliminary design recommendations, have been incorporated into a report that will be provided to the Mayor and City Council for their review and consideration. The survey results and preliminary report are posted on the City’s home page at www.ofallon.org. We appreciate the time and effort of everyone that participated in either the community design forums or in the on-line interactive survey. If you have any questions about the survey or its findings, please contact our office at 624-4500 x 4.
