Water System Capital Improvements
In response to the 01/25/06 Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (IEPA) violation notice to the City
stating that we do not have enough water storage or sufficient pumping capacity, the City has completed designs for two one-million gallon elevated water storage tanks and a new pump station. Construction of the new booster pump station which is located on the west side of Fairview Heights along St. Clair Avenue is underway and is funded by a low interest loan from the IEPA Water
Infrastructure Fund. We will also attempt to receive low interest loans to fund the new one-million gallon elevated water storage tanks. One of the new tanks will be located along Pausch Road, north of the Bluffs at Ogles Creek subdivision. The second tank will be located across from Fulton Junior High School on Kyle Road. These two water towers will likely be under construction by late summer 2008.
Obernuefemann and State Street Roundabout
The roundabout construction project should begin by April 2008. Funding is in place and the design has
been approved by the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT).
