PLANNING AND ZONING
Northeast Quadrant Traffic Study
The City has contracted with Crawford, Bunte, Brammeier to develop a transportation plan that will 2202009_22049_4.pngprovide the framework for future roadway development in the northeast portion of the city’s growth area.  The results of the study will be considered by the City Council as an amendment to the city’s Comprehensive Plan, similar to what was done in 2004 with the City’s Northwest Quadrant Traffic Study.  The study area is generally bounded by Simmons/Oberneufemann Road on the west, Interstate 64 on the south, Silver Creek to the east, and approximately one mile north of the St. Clair/Madison County line.  We will be holding meetings with St. Clair County, Madison County, O’Fallon Township, and IDOT to gather information about their roadway plans for the study area, and we anticipate a report will be coming to the City Council in early spring 2009.

St. Clair County Comprehensive Plan Update
St. Clair County has contracted with Woolpert to update its Comprehensive Plan.  In order to ensure that their new plan coordinates well with the comprehensive plans of the incorporated municipalities within the county, county Planning Director Mike Mitchell and consultants from Woolpert met with representatives from each municipality over the past several months.  Ted Shekell and Jennifer Howland represented O’Fallon in meeting with the county and provided suggestions on how the city and county could work more closely together in coordinating growth and development in the unincorporated areas around the City of O’Fallon.  The county conducted a public open house at MidAmerica Airport on November 13, and the draft plan that was presented by the county showed recommendations for improving development coordination with the city.  We believe this signals an important step forward by the county in working together with the city to better plan for and coordinate the development of land in the unincorporated areas around O’Fallon.

Customer Satisfaction Survey
The Planning and Zoning Department has recently implemented a Customer Satisfaction Survey.  City-wide surveys have been conducted in the past that have helped all city departments get an outside look at how the public perceives our job performance, but our department wants to obtain direct feedback from our specific customers so that we can provide the services that you desire in the manner in which you wish for them to be delivered.

Top notch customer service has always been a top priority for our department and during our current Survey.jpgdifficult economic times, superb customer service is even more important.  Due to a reduction in resources, we have successfully made several necessary adjustments while still maintaining our excellent level of service.  Your feedback is extremely important in order for us to continually monitor our level of service and make the necessary adjustments as we plan our future.  City residents expect and deserve courteous and responsive service to their requests, and we are committed to providing that level of service to our residents.

When a permit is issued, the customer is given a card with the instructions to go on-line and fill out the survey.  In addition, inspectors and staff hand out cards to customers with which they have daily contact.  Cards are also available at our front counter on the second floor of City Hall.  Additionally, information on how to participate in the survey is available on the city web site, at www.ofallon.org/PlanZoning.  We ask that anyone who has interacted with our department and staff to participate in the survey so we have the necessary tools we need to provide O’Fallon with the very best customer service.
