Think Green From Home Recycling Kits
Waste Management has launched a new program called Think Green From Home. This program provides you with a safe and convenient way to recycle CFL and fluorescent bulbs, batteries, electronics and computers, as well as bottles, cans and paper.
If you choose the CFL and fluorescent bulb kit, all you have to do is set up the box, line it with the Mercury VaporLok bag, fill it with bulbs, seal and ship to Waste Management using the pre-paid shipping label. The zipseal Mercury VaporLok bag reduces the risk of environmental contamination from lamps broken during storage and shipping.
The process is virtually the same if you choose any of the other three kits. Kits vary in price. Please visit the web site for pricing and more detailed information about the program.
Recycle Your Old Refrigerator or Freezer
AmerenIP will pick up your old refrigerator (manufactured before 1993) for free, and pay you $35!
If the refrigerator or freezer is used as a secondary, not primary unit; in working condition; 10-27 cubic feet in size; and manufactured before 1993, then the appliance is eligible for this program.
Once you determine that your appliance is eligible, call 1-866-899-9088 between 7 a.m. and 8 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Saturday to schedule your pick-up. Please note that AmerenIP will also pick up and recycle any working room air conditioners when picking up the other appliance.
AmerenIP will send your $35 check to you within six weeks after the appliance has been picked up (while funds exist).
