2006 Summer Reading Program
Books can ship you anywhere. As the O’Fallon Public Library launches into the 2006 Summer Reading Program, “Voyage to Book Island”, be sure to get on board with books. Cast away your spare time by reading, and cruise the library shelves for the treasure in books.
When you drop your anchor at the library you are sure to have a whale of a good time with programs, story times, games, prizes and crafts. Let the library put the Wind in Your Sails on your “Voyage to Book Island” when you come to see our special entertainers: Rick Kelly on Keyboards, Christian the Magician, Leonardo on Guitar, Chris McBrien The Magic Storyteller, and of course, Babaloo with music and fun for our finale.
Registration for the program is open all summer so it’s not too late to register. Chart your course to the O’Fallon Public Library where you can get on board with books!
July 13 1:30 p.m. Chris McBrien, The Magic Storyteller, will present his “Reading is Magic” program. This highly-acclaimed motivational reading program uses professional magic, storytelling, puppets and loads of comedy.
July 21 1 p.m. Babaloo. If you missed Babaloo last year, here is your second chance! Babaloo brings a high energy, interactive performance that keeps kids and their parents on the edge and out of their seats for the entire hour. This is also the finale of the Summer Program so attendance prizes will be offered at this event!!
Mondays
Preschoolers may weigh anchor on Monday mornings during Ms. Syndy’s Story Time School! A lottery style registration will be held for this class as it is limited to 20 children, ages two to five years.
2nd & 4th Wednesdays
Storyteller Gail Long will continue with her entertaining stories. All ages welcome.
Contests
Test your knowledge of the ocean, pirates and islands by entering our contests! We will also have a guessing game.
Book Reports
Write a book review each week from your reading log. Each week a winner will be chosen at random and the winning report will be posted on the “Hooked on Books” bulletin board.
Grab Bags
If you check out two or more library books on the day of a program, you will receive a grab bag by presenting your ticket to the Circulation Desk. Programs not included are Rebecca Caudill, Story Time School, Gail Long’s Story Hour and Tropical Party (Finale).
