Solicitation Information
With the summer and warm weather approaching, you may notice an increase in solicitors knocking at your door. Please keep in mind that all
solicitors must register for a solicitation license at City Hall before they may knock on your door. The registration requires each solicitor to present a
surety bond in the amount of $1,000, submit two photographs, and pass a background check. After paying a fee, the solicitor is issued a license with
the City of O’Fallon seal imprinted and the signature of the City Clerk, as well as the solicitor’s picture and what item they are soliciting. If the solicitor does not show you a license, do not purchase items from him or her, as we are not able to track the transaction without a registration. If you do not want a solicitor to knock at your door, you may hang a “no solicitation” sign on the door. The solicitor must leave immediately, if you request him to leave. No solicitation is permitted before 9 a.m. or after 8 p.m. Solicitation is also off-limits on Sundays and national holidays. If you have any problem with a solicitor refusing to depart or if the solicitor is unable to produce a license, please call the Police Department at
624-4545. For any other comment or complaint, call the City Clerk’s office at 624-4500, ext. 1101.
