New Dog Park at Rock Springs Park
The City is pleased to announce that a new Dog Park has been added to Rock Springs Park. The new facility is approximately 1.5 acres and is located in the northeast field area of Rock Springs Park. The area is fenced and dogs are allowed “off leash” to socialize and exercise while in this area. Pet owners are required to adhere to the rules of the new area, which are clearly posted. The new Dog Park is open to all types of dogs and for everyone who wishes to use it. All other areas in Rock Springs Park will still require dogs to be on a leash.
“Many families in O’Fallon have pets that are considered an important part of their family. The new Dog Park will allow families to spend time outdoors with their pets in a setting that is healthy for everyone involved”, said Mayor Gary L. Graham.
The Dog Park was made possible because of O’Fallon Boy Scout Trevor Lear’s dedication. Trevor felt that O’Fallon needed a dog park where dogs could run and play freely while off their leashes. He decided that building the new facility for dogs at Rock Springs Park was a great Scout project. Trevor has spent over 500 volunteer hours completing the project. In addition to Trevor’s tremendous amount of volunteer hours, Home Depot and Rural King made cash donations to the project and Quality Rental donated the rental of required tools.
The wish list of future amenities for the new facility includes benches and a water fountain. If you wish to make a tax-deductible donation to the O’Fallon Park & Recreation Foundation towards the purchase of these amenities, please contact Parks & Recreation at 624-0139.
