Water Main Projects
In order to provide better water service to our customers, the City is placing a new water main from Hartman Lane to the Greenmount Lake Apartments along Frank Scott Parkway. This new water main will provide another loop within our system. During this looping effort, an emergency tie to the Illinois-American Water Company system serving Shiloh will be made to allow both systems to provide service to the other in case of catastrophic failure.
The City will also soon start work on an extension of our service west along Milburn School Road from Pausch Road to Old Collinsville Road. Last year, the City’s distribution system was extended north along Old Collinsville Road from I-64 to Milburn School Road. The City already has a service line from I-64 to Milburn School Road along Illinois 159. With a large housing development planned soon in Fairview Heights, south of Milburn School Road between Route 159 and Old Collinsville Road, further looping of our mains will be required.
The replacing of aging smaller lines in the system will be limited this summer to much needed spot repairs in Fairview Heights and O’Fallon. No large projects are planned such as the one accomplished last year in Southview Gardens Subdivision.
Two other extensions are in the works and could conceivably be completed this year: (1) an extension of a water main along the proposed E. Wesley right-of-way from Woodlake to Seven Hills Road, and (2) an extension of the Old Collinsville main north of Milburn School Road to support additional housing construction in that area.
