5th Annual National Night Out Against Crime Event Very Successful
The 5th Annual National Night Out Against Crime event that was held at place Community Park on Tuesday, August 7th was, once again, a huge success.
Temperatures and heat indices were extremely high but that didn’t stop the children who attended from having a good time. A free pool party was added to the line-up of activities for Tuesday evening to help combat the heat. In addition to the pool party, free food and refreshments were provided to event goers. The First United Methodist Church Praise Band provided the entertainment, and there were plenty of activities for children including carnival rides, the YMCA climbing wall, and hourly prizes. In addition, the Fire Department’s slide pole proved to be a big hit with the children. Both the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and Fire Departments had ambulances and fire trucks on display for children to explore. Crime prevention/child safety presentations
were held and a child safety seat installation station was available.
Members of the O’Fallon Police, Fire and EMS Departments sincerely thank the community for braving the heat and coming out
andenjoying the evening in Community Park. We would also like to thank Wal-Mart, Target, Roy-El catering, the YMCA, and Scott Air Force Base Security for their donations to the event.
On Wednesday night, August 8, 2007, a second free pool party was held at O’Fallon’s Memorial Pool which concluded the National Night Out festivities. During the pool party, two bicycles from Wal-Mart and two gift cards from Target were given to children as attendance prizes.
