Missed the Last City Council Meeting?
You still have the opportunity to see your local government at work and keep up to date on what is happening in your City.
Council meetings are re-aired on O’Fallon’s Cable Channel 10 every Tuesday at 7 p.m. and every Wednesday at noon.
City Talk, our brand new talk show, is aired immediately following the re-airing of the Council Meeting. The show features a special guest each month who will be discussing the current happenings around town as well as providing important information to residents about City services. This is a show you won’t want to miss!
O’Fallon 2004 History Book
The O’Fallon Historical Society (OHS) will publish a new 2004 History Book in November of this year. It will cover happenings in the O’Fallon Township High School district from 1800 through today.
Some of the chapters with chairpersons that will be included are: Businesses (Doris Johnson); Cemeteries and Entertainment (Ralph Keller); Centennial, Mines, Photographs and Sesquicentennial, (Brian Keller ); City (Brian Keller, Dorothy Falk & Carol Souza); Churches, Clubs, Organizations, and Families (Dorothy Falk ); Farms (Ken Joseph); Landmark Buildings (Julie Spengler); Military Service (Gene Thomas); Railroads (Jerry Worms); Schools and Sports (Maurice Hesse); Tidbits (everybody) and Township (Gary Ahle). Many other people have submitted articles to go within these and other shared chapters.
The very short family stories will be about some of the first generation of the families that were here in the 1870 or earlier censuses, stories that people have submitted to the OHS, and stories about some of the people that have made an impact on the growth of O’Fallon over the years.
For those residents who served in the military during war times and had their names published in the newspapers, OHS has a listing. If you’d like to verify that they have yours included, please contact them. These are primarily people that enlisted with an O’Fallon or Shiloh address from the Revolutionary War forward.
You may contact the OHS by leaving a message on the OHS recorder at 624-8409 at any time. You may also send an email message to ohs@ofallonhistory.org. The OHS web page can be found at www.ofallonhistory.org, and the mailing address is P. O. Box 344, O’Fallon, IL 62269. An alternate phone
contact is Dorothy Falk at 632-3483.
The book is expected to be around 300 pages and the prepublication price is $20 for the first printing. This is a great price for a good bargain and could make a wonderful Christmas present and a welcome addition to your library. OHS prefers that you pre-order before they go to press at the end of October so they know how many books to order. You may pick up the finished book at the OHS museum when you are notified. If you’d rather have the book mailed to you, please add $4 for postage and handling for a USA address, including APO’s. Overseas buyers should reserve their book now and pay after the postage cost is verified.

The beautifully rendered coins featuring the O’Fallon Sesquicentennial logo and an illustration by famed illustrator Bernie Fuchs are available in your choice of one ounce of pure silver for $50 each or in rich bronze for $10 each. These coins make a great keepsake and will provide the children of O’Fallon a way to remember our celebration for years to come.
