City of O'Fallon ARTS COMMISSION Meeting Minutes
November 13, 2007 - 5:00 p.m.
Meeting of the Arts Commission Committee of the City of O’Fallon, held at City Hall, O’Fallon, IL

PRESENT:

Item A.  Strange Folk Art Festival (Wiggins): www.strangefolkfestival.com
Budget: final report $4367.00~Total Revenue less $4797.89 Total Expenses =  $431 net loss.  Increase profits for 2008: vendor fees $65 (from $40) for 2 days, already approaching more sponsors, reuse banners & decorations, less zines, higher fees for food vendors.  These should offset costs for overnight security, more tote bags.  
Attendance doubled from last year.  Could double again for 2008.
2008 event date: Sept 27 & 28 (tentative times: Sat 10-4 & Sun 11-4).

Item B.  Missoula Children’s Theater (Caticchio):
Show: Cinderella” dateMonth4Day14Year2008April 14-19, 2008 (8th residency).
Show times:  Friday 7pm & Saturday  1pm (instead of two Saturday shows).  
Free Workshops: Moye, First Baptist, Hinchcliffe.  Workshop list sent to all schools May 2007.  

Item C.   Backyard Playhouse Summer Youth Theater Camp (Grimmer).  
Budget: Dallner requested Grimmer to submit to Parks by December.
Sample kit/directors book: Dallner will order for Grimmer.  Maybe “Suessical”, Disney, etc.
June camp, 3 weeks, all at OTHS (Grimmer secure reservations in January).

Item D.   Gnome Cut Out (Wiggins).  Dallner will get plywood, Wiggins will sketch figures and let us know summer date(s)/times to come paint this project for Strange Folk Festival.

Item E.   Links for Arts Commission Projects  (Caticchio).  Discussion/mock up for creating links off city/Parks website that connect to festival site, Backyard Playhouse, MCT (photos of past shows/casts, upcoming event info), Thoman Park sculpture project/goals, City Decorations, etc.  Caticchio needs to contact Pam Funk for further info.

Item F.   Arts & Parks Foundation (Hutchison).  501(c)3 status official.  Can begin looking for grants.  

Item G.  “1% for Public Art”(Hutchison):  No new information.

Item H.   Performing Arts Series (Caticchio, Hutchison).   Pending.

Item I.  New Business.  Encore Jazz & Blues Festival gave a proposal to City which was reviewed and discussed at this meeting.  It was hoped that event coordinators would attend tonight’s meeting to give more details but they were not present, so event discussion was tabled.
