Meeting of the Arts Commission Committee of the City of O’Fallon held at Cavins Center, O’Fallon, IL

Item A. . Missoula Children’s Theater (Caticchio): “Princess & the Pea” April 13-19, 2009 (9th residency). Still waiting on 2009 contract from OTHS. Form has arrived to request date for Spring 2010 (10th residency).
Item B. Backyard Playhouse Theater (Grimmer): Hutchison reported this camp will not occur. Parks has hired a St Louis group to run a theater-related weeklong camp (9am-3pm).
- 2008 Revenue/Expenses Report - net profit: $532.
- Consumer Product Safety Act: new law Feb 10 could have a big impact on crafters, thus our Festival!
- Sonic Bids (website program) for bands: lots of responses. May use income to pay band(s) a fee.
- Hotel room block with Tourism to be done in May.
- Wine tasting: Sunrise Rotary is considering doing this at Strange as a fundraiser for their organization.
- Authors Pavilion is being planned; live blogging?
- We will not do T-shirt sales. Bags: order same quantity as last year.
- Sheep to Shawl demo by Fiber Guild
- Demo of a “plarn” project: TBD
- Cigar lounge still being considered
- Mini-golf holes in rock area from recycled materials similar to artist exhibit in Minneapolis still being considered.
- DIY Style/Babylocks Sewing Machines: vodcast; upcycling drive, clothing swap, alterations
- gnomes as decorations
- recycling by Boy Scouts – Autumn running pilot program by Craft Mafia at Webster University campus and will utilize ideas from the project for Strange Folk.
- O’Fallon & SW Illinois Visitors Guides/info in all bags
- Vendor “One Inch Pins” may have “Make Your Own Button” booth. “Make your own Pinata”?
Item D. Arts & Parks Foundation (Hutchison). Board meeting occurred this month, brochure presented. Upcoming fundraiser: “Fools Run” in April.
Item E. 1% for Public Art”(Hutchison): No new information.
Item F. Performing Arts Series (Caticchio, Hutchison). No new information.
Item G. New Business.
- Cancel Arts Meeting in April (it is MCT residency week).
Consider fundraiser or profit from Strange Folk to use for purchase of new street banners.
