Item A. Strange Folk Art Festival (Wiggins):
Sept 26 & 27, 2009 (10am-5pm)
- Booth Fee: $75 per booth (must be open both days).
Apps deadline moved back to July 6.
65 apps received so far.
- Wine tasting: Jodi find out if Rotary willing to do it.
- Upcycle Exchange: Jodi get answer from OTHS Art Club. Next idea: OTHS Ecology Club.
- Discovery School: Autumn confirm they are participating (Plarn Demo?).
- Cooking Demos by Chef Jeff? Autumn confirm.
- Boy Scouts: Jodi confirm hot dog booth and their help with recycling.
- Author Pavilion: Jodi working on this with Library.
- Addt’l food vendors: Autumn contacting local non-chains Irma’s, Dragonfly Secrets, Papa Vito’s. Coffee? Boston-based vegan ice cream vendor may apply.
- Magnets, Bags, free button (for taking survey), Gnomes (decorations): Autumn researching purchase (no shirts).
- Online Donations: Jodi send out email. $20 before Aug 1 & receive free bag w/goodies.
- Market Basket loan plants? Autumn checking.
- Bigger Bathroom Signs
- Hotel listing w/contact info: rebate for booking with proof of receipt.
- Pending or Decision Items:
- Bicyclery: rent & ride? Autumn talking to Forest Park Rentals.
- Screening? “Handmade Nation” and “Re-construct”: Autumn talking to Dave Edgar/SWIC about projection.
- “Make Your Own Button” booth by “One Inch Pins” vendor?
- “Ice Cream Social Network”?
- Old Computers? Need older Intel-based units: Autumn wipe clean, blog at Author’s Pavilion. Web cams a bonus.
- DIY charms for wine tasting?
- Sonic Bids: lots of bids (income for fest); Autumn listening to options for free bands.
- “Instrument Petting Zoo”: Troy Marble confirmed he will coordinate booth for people to try various instruments. His instrument repair shop, Marble Music, will co-sponsor and Troy will contact Schmidt Music. Troy will provide signage, flyers advertising booth sponsors. Donated instruments? Troy will ask “Clarion Brass” about possible performances at Fest.
- Sheep to Shawl demo by Artisans Guild of Southern Illinois.
- Girl Scouts running craft; in exchange for this service, cookies will be allowed to be sold. Jodi contact GS leader to let them know Autumn already has the project picked out.
- Sandbox again: yes!
- Food vendors: all booths can include drinks. Food vendor booth options/ fees: $50 w/out electric, $75 w/electric hookup, or $100 for a kitchen space.
- Little Jimmy’s Italian Ice (www.italianice.net) doesn’t need electricity so we can put with the tent vendors.
- Sheridan's ice cream (www.sheridansfrozencustard.com). Also lattes?
- Aston Concessions: funnel cakes, shaved ice, cotton candy, corn dogs, soft pretzels, drinks
- BBQ
- Promotions: Autumn coordinating August water bill flyers, RFT ad, Twitter & Facebook, craft blogs, mailing list (crafter and spectator lists). No newspaper ads. Note: Strange Folk Festival voted “best craft festival in St Louis” by River Front Times in 2008. Jodi emailing out press release to citizens, newspapers, fall calendar listings, Marketplace Magazine, Family Fun, Illinois Arts Council. O’Fallon & SW Illinois Visitors Guides/info in all bags.
- Misc: Several sponsors giving in-kind donations for bags. Not doing Cigar Lounge. Parks already has recycling containers in place.
Item B. Missoula Children’s Theater (Caticchio): Parks processed MCT contract for Spring 2010 (10th residency): “Jack & the Beanstalk” April 12-17, 2010. OTHS contract for performance space April 13-17 pending. Parks reserved Cavins for Audition on April 12, 2010.
