Item C.  Arts & Parks Foundation.

Item D.  New Business.  Marty Ercoline approached Arts Commission with a possible new event idea for a Metro East Jazz & Wine Festival (actual name still pending).  Marty intends to use no city personnel or city facilities but was looking to members for brainstorming help, pitfalls of event planning, funding and budget ideas, etc.  Marty informed members that he is at a very preliminary stage, collecting information, assessing feasibility, researching costs and revenue.  New projects for the Arts Commission revolve around the vision and drive of the person initiating the project.  While the commission can help lay the framework, project support is contingent on individual members’ desire and availability.~ Arts Commission explained that it is critical that the event not compete with established Strange Folk event or its new wine tasting segment, so the timing may have to be Spring rather than Fall.  It was suggested that the event also not copy or compete with Art on the Square’s wine and jazz segment.  A 2010 event date seemed aggressive and it was suggested that a plan for 2011 might be more feasible.
