Item B. O’Fallon Theater Troupe (Almodovar) – Laurie and Beth met with Mary Jeanne and Jodi on July 9. Name still pending that describes more of a group of performers (“troupe) than a location (“community theater”). Wiggins may help with a website. Considering late fall children’s production (Nov 19-20?) and then late spring adult production. Possible school date conflicts were reviewed. Locations were discussed (high school stages have fixed seating; jr high stages more available but seating put up and taken down by volunteers). They will pursue Wiggin’s idea of roaming improv performances at Strange Folk. Also discussed a small workshop for kids at SFF.
Item C. O’Fallon Invitational Art Show (Olds) – A visual arts exhibit open to all area high schools (and jr high?). Olds can obtain plenty of display panels. Obtain sponsors to provide award funding or prizes. Wiggins offered to make logo and website to promote the event. Location: probably Cavins. Target date for first event: January 2012, leaving up display Wednesday through Sunday. Discussed several area art teachers who might be interested in steering student work to the event and/or helping plan or implement event.
Item D. Sculpture at Thoman Park – Hutchison sent a form to Debbie to get the info for donor plaques, met with Calvin.
Item E. Arts & Parks Foundation – No new information on The Plex art/rec center.
Item F. Missoula Children’s Theater (Caticchio): “Pinocchio” April 11-16, 2011
Item G. Science Share (Wiggins) – No new information. Possible community science fair (or similar to Maker Faire), an “Open Source Design and Technology Fair” (robotics, architecture, software, alternative energy, design) for kids age 17 and younger. Partner with schools, utilize sponsors, judges, local mentors (parent, teacher, older student), project blogging, displayed at Cavins (Fri-Mon, Fall 2011?), integrate use of computer/internet. Logo & website ready.
Item H. New Business – Jeff Blue from SWIC called Caticchio about interest in joining a “think tank” for area arts, possibly September. When date is set, Arts Commission will help get the word out to those interested.
