Item A. Arts & Parks Foundation – Hutchison
- Annual Meeting of the Foundation Board of Directors will occur January 24.
- American Girl Fashion Show is March 31, 2012 (a fundraiser for the Arts/Park Foundation to fund projects/activities and eventually “The Plex” art/rec center in O’Fallon). Getting ready to order 10,000 invitations to mail from the Am Girl list (ordered more this year than last year). Ticket price lower ($30 this year vs $35 last year). Ticket info online at http://www.ofallon.org/Public_Documents/OFallonIL_ParksRec/American%20Girl%20Fashion%20Show/American%20Girl.~ Working on model selection now (any age but need to fit size 6x or 10 that Am Girl sends). Models chosen must buy a $25 nonrefundable ad because we had people drop out at the last minute last year, and this may help commitment or fund last minute time for search of additional models. Models must also purchase at least 4 tickets. Hutchison confirmed helpers from OTHS Honor Society (emcee, organize, etc). Hutchison printing show tickets and raffle tickets soon, and scheduling food tasting at Conf Ctr to improve menu this year.
- Annual Fundraiser: Fools Run 5K will occur March 30, 2012. This is a fundraiser for the Arts/Park Foundation to fund projects & activities and eventually “The Plex” art/rec center in O’Fallon. Item B. Missoula Children’s Theater – Caticchio – “Secret Garden” April 16-21, 2012. Audition and show info are online at city/parks/arts website: http://www.ofallon.org/Public_Documents/OFallonIL_BComm/artcomm/Missoula1.
Waiting for final copy of contract from OTHS before ordering flyers or tickets to be printed. Accompanist confirmed. Caticchio will book hotel this month. Date request form for April 2013 was submitted to MCT.
Item C. ArtSWIL – Caticchio/Olds/Wiggins – The metro east art/cultural groups met several times last fall at SWIC. A grant from Illinois Arts Council provided services of a moderator who guided the group in setting a mission statement, one-year and five-year goals, and to form committees. A name and logo were finalized in October. The name is an acronym for “Arts Roundtable of Southwest Illinois”. Criteria established for officer roles, and a steering committee was set up to decide the amount of membership dues and to create the bylaws which will then be used to elect officers. An RFP for a website design was released, and the designer is the same person designing the new website for Art on the Square. The website will have an interactive calendar where member
organizations can list their arts and cultural events (not fundraisers, meetings, etc). This will allow Illinois groups to share info about their event dates to avoid conflicting times, and to have cross-pollination of patrons. The website will hopefully launch in January.
Item D. Strange Folk Art Festival (Wiggins): www.strangefolkfestival.com - Sept 29-30, 2012 (10a-6p). Wiggins will start work on the 2012 event at March meeting and discuss applications (usually online by June 1 and usually due July 1).
Item E. New Business. Discussed ideas about using some Foundation earnings to seed a new project for O’Fallon arts. Olds described how Art on the Square uses funds support artists from Gateway East Artists Guild to create summer residency arts programs: we could do a similar program with performing or visual arts. Another idea: we purchase works from local artists and raffle them off; Hutchison will approach some groups about having the raffle at their event.
