Missoula Children’s Theatre production is part of a unique international touring project presented locally each year by the Arts Commission. Under the direction of two MCT Actor/Directors, the production is staged and performed entirely by O’Fallon area children whose ages range from kindergarten through twelfth grade. This theatrical camp starts with an audition and daily rehearsals on Monday, culminating in two performances on Friday and Saturday.
Past productions include Red Riding Hood, Hansel & Gretel, Snow White, Frog Prince, Tales of Hans Christian Anderson, Robin Hood, and The Little Mermaid.
The Missoula Children’s Theatre presents JACK & THE BEANSTALK, an original adaptation of the classic fairy tale. What happens when a young boy plants magic beans in his own backyard? For Jack, it is the beginning of a great adventure. With a little help from Magic and a vegetarian Giant, Jack learns a valuable lesson about true happiness. This musical production also features a host of other characters, including the Magic Harp, Jill, Mother, Milky White, the Farmers, the Merchants, the Circus Performers and the Magic Beans.

AUDITION:
Audition: Monday, April 12, 2010 at the Katy Cavins Center at O’Fallon City Park.
Registration: 3:30pm to 4:00pm. Audition begins promptly at 4:00pm and ends at 6:00pm. You must be present for the full two hours of the audition.
Fee: There is no cost to audition. However, if cast, a tuition fee is required to accept a role:
$50.00 O’Fallon residents
$60.00 non-residents
Fee includes two tickets to the performance.
Scholarships available based on financial need: apply at Parks office/Cavins Center
Ages: Age 6 to 18
How many: Approximately 50 to 60 local students will be cast
There is no guarantee that everyone who auditions will be cast in the play. Students wishing to audition should arrive on time & plan to stay for the entire two-hour audition. It is a group audition:: no experience and no advance preparation is necessary but a SMILE never hurts! Just be ready to come & have a good time! Rehearsals will be conducted everyday from 4pm to 8:30pm (Tues at Cavins, Wed/Thur/Fri at the OTHS Milburn Auditorium. See performance information above. Although not all cast members will be needed at every session, those auditioning must have a clear schedule for the entire week and, if selected, must be able to attend all performances and rehearsals required for their role. The first rehearsal for some (older) characters
begins approximately 30 minutes after the auditions are concluded. A detailed rehearsal schedule will be distributed at the conclusion of the auditions. Parents, teachers & the public may watch the rehearsals although it may be fun for kids to surprise the audience at the performance!
