City Administrator’s Blog

I don’t have a theme for this blog, but here are some odds and ends to close out the week:
It was a sad week for former O’Fallon Aldermen. Three former Aldermen died this week: Joe Hubbard, Everett McGinnis and Bob Bode. Mr. Bode was also City Clerk for a long period.
Metro East mayors are organizing to oppose the proposed STAR Bond Bill SB1909 (click here to read a recent article and click here to read the bill). We believe the bill is more than economic development for Glen Carbon and would create an unlevel playing
field that would significantly damage any Metro East city trying to attract retail development. (More on this in a future blog.)
Obernuefemann Road was paved this week. There is a now a smooth driving surface along the entire stretch of the construction zone. Winter weather prevented the contractor from completing the project last fall and temperatures finally got warm enough to finish the job. Some striping and landscaping still remains.
The Kyle Road Water Tower is structurally complete. All that remains is for the tank to be painted, which will be “Tank White” (the same color as our other water tanks). The construction equipment was moved this week over to the Pausch Road water tower site, which will begin construction soon.
The tulips in front of City Hall are dazzling! Kudos to the Parks and Recreation Department maintenance crews for creating such a colorful palette.
