Keep your receipts! If you shop at O’Fallon businesses, your receipts may make you a big winner. The O’Fallon Chamber of Commerce and the City of O’Fallon are sponsoring a new program to promote local businesses during the holiday shopping season.
The campaign encourages O’Fallon residents to do their holiday shopping in O’Fallon. For every dollar spent locally, about 40 cents remains in the local community supporting local jobs, funding community programs, and strengthening local businesses.
After making a purchase at an O’Fallon business, simply bring your sales receipts to O’Fallon City Hall at 255 South Lincoln or to the O’Fallon Chamber of Commerce Office at 116 East First Street. Receipts will be verified and stamped and you will be given one entry ticket for every $100 spent. There is no limit on how many hundreds of dollars in receipts each entrant may submit. Utility bills, home purchases, or mortgage payments are not eligible. Click here for more details.
The program goes from November 1 through December 31. Three grand prize winners will be drawn at the January 4 City Council meeting. Current sponsors are: Schnuck’s Markets, Ace Hardware, Home Depot, Frieze Harley-Davidson, Magdals-A Touch of Class, Wal-Mart, La-Z-Boy Furniture Gallery, Sam’s Club, Jack Schmitt Chevrolet, Jack Schmitt Cadillac, Car Credit City, Meyer Honda, and Auffenberg St. Clair Auto Mall.
Unfortunately, it does not take long to spend $100. Just this week, trips to Schnucks, Walgreens, and the gas station supplied me with almost $250 in receipts that are eligible for raffle tickets.
While this probably will not save our community from the current recession, every little bit helps. When you have a choice on where to shop, we hope you will consider patronizing an O’Fallon business and boost our local economy. You might even win a prize.
