Here is a summary of Tuesday’s City Council meeting agenda items. The items are listed in the order as they appeared in the agenda. Click here to see the full texts of the resolutions, ordinances, and staff reports. As a reminder, resolutions, motions, and special event permits only need to be approved once to become official. Ordinances are required to be approved in two readings (over two meetings) before they become official.
Here are the items that were approved by the City Council:
Resolution for the design of the Matthew Drive Storm Sewer Remediation Project: The portion storm drain pipes from Laverna Evens School along Matthew Drive is deteriorating and in danger of damaging some homes int eh area. The contract with Hoelscher Engineering is for a cost not to exceed $12,600. The estimate for the construction associated with this total design is $550,000 which is in the proposed FY2010/11 budget to be funded from the Proposition S sales tax.
Resolution for the design of the Jamestown Road Culvert Repair: The culvert pipes running under Jamestown Road on a reach of Rock Spring Creek between Monterey and Holliday Drives have deteriorated and are threatening to undermine the roadway. The contract with Hoelscher Engineering is for a cost not to exceed $39,700.
Resolution for the Installation of Sanitary Sewer Mains in the Behrens Area: O’Fallon Township and the City of O’Fallon recently received a Community Development Block Grant through St. Clair County to provide sanitary sewer service to the Behrens Street area. The homes along Carson and Behrens are outside the city limits and currently using septic tanks that are failing and causing a public health hazard. The City of O’Fallon’s match to the grant is to provide taps to our sewer system at no cost to those interested in obtaining sanitary service there. The construction contract to the lowest qualified bidder (LW Contractors) is for $131,531.
Ordinance establishing the Crime Free Rental Housing Program (Second Reading): Following first reading approval on December 7, the Community Development Committee deliberated the ordinance at three subsequent special meetings. Several landlords attended the meetings with questions and concerns, and the committee modified the ordinance to address landlord concerns.
Ordinance increase the Peddler’s License fee (Second Reading): The City Council recently increased the Solicitor’s License from $25 to $50, and this ordinance increases the Peddler’s License to $50 to be consistent.
Special Event Permit for the Metro East Cycling O’Fallon Grand Prix Bicycle Race: This is the third annual race beginning on Kyle Road and extends into northern O’Fallon Township. The race will take place on June 5 from 6:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Special Event Request from St. Clare School: The race begins at Rohr Field on April 3, 2010 from 9:00-11:00 a.m.
Special Event Requests for Frieze Harley Davidson:
- May Open House: May 15 from 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
- The 15th Annual Cancer Benefit Ride: May 16 from 8:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
- New Model Year Open House: September 11 from 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
ON HOLD Tax Increment Financing Ordinances: Five Second Reading ordinances dealing with the proposed Regency Park Tax Increment Financing District are on hold for legal review.
Now you’re up to date. Next Monday’s committee meetings will be Parks and Environment at 5:00 p.m., Community Development at 6:00 p.m., and Public Safety at 7:00 p.m.
