It is a little late this year, but construction season has begun. Over the next two weeks, three significant road construction projects are scheduled to begin.
Old Collinsville Road Reconstruction
Beginning on or about July 6, work will begin on the reconstruction of Old Collinsville Road between the I-64 Frontage Road (Salem Place) and Milburn School Road. This reconstruction project is expected to take approximately one year to complete. The road will be closed to through traffic in sections, but will remain accessible to the businesses and residents who are located in these areas.
The first section to be closed is from the Frontage Road to an area just south of the entrance drive to Andria’s Restaurant. The first section contains a large amount of CSX Railroad reconstruction work as well as road work. A reopening date for the first section is not available at this time.
O’Fallon-Troy Road Reconstruction
Beginning Monday, June 28, St. Clair County will begin reconstruction work on O’Fallon-Troy Road. The roadway will be reconstructed from just south of Bethel School Road to Scott-Troy Road and will be completed in phased sections. The first phase of construction will occur from approximately 1,000 feet south of Bethel School Road up to the Bethel School Road intersection. This roadway section will be closed, and motorists should be ready for potential delays at the intersection of Bethel and O’Fallon-Troy Road. The entire project will take more than one year to complete.
Hwy. 50 Asphalt Overlay
Beginning Monday, June 28, the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) will begin their road overlay project in the following areas: the I-64 Frontage Road from Rte. 159 to Venita Drive, and Highway 50 from Venita Drive (IHOP Restaurant) to Scott-Troy Road in O’Fallon. The project will a few weeks to complete and motorists should expect periodic delays as the overlay equipment moves through town.
