Here is a summary of Monday’s City Council meeting agenda items. The items are listed in the order as they appeared in the agenda. Click here to see the full texts of the resolutions, ordinances, and staff reports. As a reminder, resolutions, motions, and special event permits only need to be approved once to become official. Ordinances are required to be approved in two readings (over two meetings) before they become official.
Here are the items that were approved by the City Council:
Resolution approving an annexation agreement at 8478 and 8482 East Highway 50: Steven & Patricia Lurtz have filed a petition to enter into an annexation agreement for their property located at 8478 and 8482 East Highway 50 (approximately 5.4 acres). The annexation agreement is a result of the City obtaining a sewer easement across the Lurtz property. In exchange for the easement, one free one-inch water tap and one free four-inch or six-inch sewer tap will be granted for use on this property. The parcels are not yet contiguous to O’Fallon’s municipal boundary; there is one parcel to the east separating the Lurtz parcels from the municipal boundary.
Resolution allowing the City to apply for a state grant for Southview Subdivision storm drainage repairs: The Southview Subdivision area currently is experiencing local street and area flooding due to deteriorating conditions of the existing stormwater system. The City has the opportunity to secure a grant in the amount of $89,000 for stormwater remediation projects from the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity. These funds, while not enough to do all needed repairs, will make a significant impact (approximately 42% of the engineer’s estimate for improvements) towards restoration of functionality of the stormwater system. This resolution allows the City to apply for the grant.
Ordinance approving Shooters Bar and Grill (Second Reading): The applicant, Beth Reidelberger, filed an application to operate a bar and grill at 113 East First Street in downtown O’Fallon. The bar and grill will be operated by John Schildknecht. There was an amendment to the Second Reading ordinance that removes the outdoor seating from the restaurant.
Special Event Permit for Frieze Harley-Davidson: The dealership is holding a “Friday Night Live” party on July 23 from 5-10 p.m., featuring food, beverages, and live music.
Special Event Permit for Scott AFB 5K Race: The race will be held on July 24 at 8 a.m. at the O’Fallon YMCA. The race is being held to raise money for the Scott Air Force Ball on September 18, 2010.
ON HOLD Tax Increment Financing Ordinances: Five Second Reading ordinances dealing with the proposed Regency Park Tax Increment Financing District are on hold for legal review.
Now you’re up to date. Next Monday’s committee meetings will be Finance and Administration at 5:00 p.m., Community Development at 6:00 p.m., and Public Works at 7:00 p.m.
