O’FALLON PUBLIC LIBRARY
REGULAR BOARD MEETING MINUTES
March 8, 2004
The meeting was called to order in the O’Fallon Library Board Meeting Room at 7:00 pm. by President Larry Morrison. Other board members present were Cathy Rosen (arrived at 7:07), Linda Kahley, Ruth Hill, Dennis Grimmer, Georgia Coco, Nancy Clark, Dorcas Cecil, and Harriet Baker. Also present was Head Librarian Mary Smith.
Agenda Amendments - There were none.
Secretary’s Report - Motion was made by H. Baker and seconded by D. Cecil to approve the minutes of the February 9th meeting with the following correction: page 2, under New Business, second paragraph should read “ . . . will now meet to work towards it.”. All ayes. Motion carried.
Treasurer’s Report - Motion was made by D. Grimmer and seconded by D. Cecil to approve the treasurer’s report as received. All ayes. Motion carried.
March Bills - M. Smith added the listing of Grass Roots for $29 to the presented bills. The amount was already included in the $15,684.65 total.
Motion was made by L. Kahley and seconded by H. Baker to approve payment of the bills. ROLL: L. Kahley, aye; L. Morrison, aye; H. Baker, aye; D. Cecil, aye; N. Clark, aye; G. Coco, aye; D. Grimmer, aye; R. Hill, aye. All ayes. Motion carried.
Librarian’s Report - The donated artwork has been erected and has withstood the tremendous winds we have had these last few days.
M. Smith said she purchased, with the donation from the Thursday Literary Club, the companion book to the Lewis & Clark exhibit. [C. Rosen arrived at this time.]
The Long Range Planning Committee will meet on March 25th at 4:30 p.m. at the Library.
Friends of the Library Report - G. Coco said the next meeting will be April 13th at 5:00 p.m. Election of officers will occur. The brochure about the Friends will be given final approval.
Book Discussion Group - Robert Penn Warren’s All the King’s Men was enjoyed but the readers did not understand why it is a classic. Robert Louis Stevenson’s Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde is the next book.
Discussion will be on the 4th Monday at 7 p.m. at the Library.
