Michael Bennett

bennett2.jpgMichael Bennett is an Alderman for Ward 5 and has been an O'Fallon resident since 1988.  He was elected in 1995 and re-elected in 1999.  He has worked as a Computer Programmer/ Analyst consultant since 1984.  More importantly, though, Michael is the proud father of 3 great boys.  He is a member of Project Success and PTO with Central School, as well as a member and coach of the Boosters, having served for several years.

"For many years O'Fallon has been a very dynamic and growing community. These changes must be brought about with every consideration given to residents when considering any commercial development. Ward 5 comprises the most diverse of the 7 wards in O'Fallon and creates a special challenge to balance the interests of:

w 3 mobile home subdivisions.
w Many older established neighborhoods.
w Several brand new home subdivisions.
w Numerous commercial projects.
w A separate school district (Central) from the other O'Fallon Grade schools and Junior High.
w A separate sewer district (Caseyville) from rest of O'Fallon.
w O'Fallon township and Caseyville township road districts.
w Common border with Fairview Heights.
w I-64.

Years ago Ward 5 had an identity crisis. The splintering of the ward by I-64 and confusion with the borders of Fairview Heights and the St. Clair County has on occasion left us to fend for ourselves. Dennis and I have worked very hard for the last several years to remind everyone of our existence so that we are not completely lost in the commercial buildup that has engulfed our ward.

I will always base my decisions on city issues by what makes the most sense for the citizens of Ward 5 and O'Fallon.

I decided long ago to live here and raise my children in O'Fallon. My kids are going to go to school here. There is no other town in the region better suited to raising and educating children. My goal is to provide as much input and guidance to help insure that O'Fallon continues to improve as the premier hometown in this region."
