 Nila has been a Ward 1 alderman since 1994.
Ms. Grogan has been an O’Fallon resident since 1972. She married her husband, David Heisel in 2002.
She taught Spanish at O’Fallon Township High School for 33 years before officially retiring in May, 2005. Nila chaired the Foreign Language Department for 11 years and was the Foreign Language Teacher of the Year in 1988. She also received an SIUE Award for Teaching Excellence (1990) and an Emerson Electric Excellence in Teaching Award (1996). Additionally, she served as the Student Council Sponsor for 29 years. Furthermore, she helped establish the Township Youth Committee.
She currently works at OTHS part-time, serves as an adjunct professor for Southwestern Illinois College (SWIC), serves on the Board for Foreign Language teachers. Nila loves to travel and has taken many trips with students to Spain, Mexico, and France.
She received her both her BS (1971) and her MS (1977) from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville and has 32 hours towards a PhD.
She currently serves on the Finance and Administration Committee.
