A Weekly Note from Mayor Gary L. Graham
“Traditional Values, Progressive Thinking”
I would like to take this opportunity to remind our civic-minded residents that election packets for the April 17, 2007 Consolidated Election are still available in the City Clerk’s Office at City Hall.
The offices up for election include one Alderman from each of our seven wards. The filing of the nominating petitions begins on Monday, January 29th at 8 a.m. and continues through Monday, February 5th until 5 p.m. Aldermen all serve part-time and are elected from wards for staggered four-year terms.
The City Council meets on the first and third Monday of each month at 7 p.m. in the City Council Chambers at City Hall. To assist our residents in keeping up to date on what is going on at City Hall, the meeting is televised live on Cable Access Channel 10 and rebroadcast every Tuesday evening at 7 p.m. and again at noon on Wednesday.
While serving as an elected official requires a substantial commitment of both time and energy, it is also a very rewarding experience. Our elected officials play a crucial role in the governance of our great city. They listen to our residents’ concerns and make decisions that will benefit everyone.
If you are interested in serving your City as an elected official and getting your voice heard, it’s not too late. For more information, contact Phil Goodwin at 624-4500, ext. 1102 or Maryanne Fair at 624-4500, ext. 1101 or via email at mfair@ofallon.org.
As always, I welcome your suggestions and comments and encourage you to contact me at 624-4500, extension 1107. The strong working relationship between City Hall and the residents we serve is yet another example of why O’Fallon is such a great community in which to live.
