Citizen Survey - April 18, 2007

A Weekly Note from Mayor Gary L. Graham
Traditional Values, Progressive Thinking

In the City’s continuing efforts to receive valuable input from our residents and to improve customer service, a citizen survey will be conducted, with mailings of the survey instrument beginning this week.

The City Council and I want to know what you think about our community and municipal government.  This survey will provide us with an accurate, affordable and easy way to assess and interpret our residents’ opinions about important community issues and City services.

The survey process began last week with pre-notification postcards mailed to 1,200 randomly selected O’Fallon households.  Actual survey instruments are being mailed to the same 1,200 households this week, and a follow-up mailing will occur the week of April 23rd.  To receive a representative sample of O’Fallon residents, the person completing the survey should be 18 years of age or older.  All survey responses will remain completely anonymous.  To make it convenient for residents to return the survey, a postage-paid envelope is provided.

The survey is being conducted by the National Research Center.  The Center uses a National Citizen Survey that has been conducted in more than 350 jurisdictions throughout the United States.  Therefore, responses from O’Fallon residents will not only be evaluated according to community demographics, but also in comparison to responses from more than 200,000 residents who have taken the survey across the country.  Results from the survey are expected in mid-June.

If your household is chosen to participate in the survey process, please take a few minutes to fill out the form.  Your input is crucial as we plan for our present and future.  The strong working relationship between City Hall and the residents we serve is another example of why O’Fallon is such a great community in which to live.
