A Weekly Note from Mayor Gary L. Graham
“Traditional Values, Progressive Thinking”
With fall just around the corner, I’m certain that many O’Fallon families are interested in cleaning out their garages or basements and disposing of unnecessary items before winter weather arrives. To make it convenient for our residents to dispose of these items, Waste Management provides monthly collection services, year-round.
Residents can simply place their bulky items at the curb or alley next to their trash and yard waste on their last pick-up day of the month and Waste Management will pick the items up. The monthly collection of bulky items is included in the standard service rate of $15.47 per month (increases to $15.97 October 1st).
This monthly bulk item pick-up service provides O’Fallon residents with a convenient, easy and timely means of disposing of unwanted items, and I encourage residents to take advantage of the service.
Bulky items are defined as all types of solid waste that cannot be placed into a 32-gallon trash can or a 96-gallon mobile cart, but can be carried to the curb by two persons, and does not exceed 150 pounds. Bulky items include household equipment and furniture, but do not include automobile parts or components, batteries, tires, computers, appliances and household hazardous waste items.
Residents who have appliances that they wish to dispose of may call Waste Management to schedule a special pick-up of the appliance at a cost of $16.46 per appliance (increases to $16.99 October 1st).
I hope that you and your family take advantage of this great service. It doesn’t cost you any additional money, unless you have an appliance to dispose of, and it’s a great opportunity to dispose of unwanted items. The strong working relationship between City Hall and the residents we serve is yet another example of why O’Fallon is such a great community in which to live.
