A Weekly Note from Mayor Gary L. Graham
“Traditional Values, Progressive Thinking”
The beginning of the New Year is a perfect time for us to reflect back on 2007 and to determine our new year’s resolutions for 2008. The City of O’Fallon Parks and Recreation Department is offering numerous programs and activities throughout 2008 that will assist you and your family in keeping those resolutions.
If your resolution is to learn a new skill such as the art of making stained glass, bowling, or ballroom and swing dance, the Parks and Recreation Department is your ticket to obtaining those skills. If it is relaxation that you are in search of, Tai Chi is offered.
Our Parks and Recreation Department is committed to offering programs and activities for the entire family and I encourage you to take advantage of these opportunities. Samplings of programs and activities for this year include:

Please don’t forget our wonderful Library when making your new year’s resolutions. Our Library offers numerous activities and resources for everyone in your family. For the little ones, Story Hour is offered every Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. and Miss Syndy’s Storytime School meets once per week. For the adults in your household, computer classes are offered on a regular basis and a book discussion group meets the fourth Monday of each month at 7 p.m. For your college bound student, the library offers three programs designed to help you and your teen navigate the college admittance testing and acceptance process. In January, the Library will also be offering two great educational sessions about The Wonderful World of Nature.
I am certain that you and your family will find our Parks and Library programs both educational and very enjoyable. The opportunity to participate in high quality and fun leisure activities such as these is yet another example of why O’Fallon is such a great community in which to live.
