A Weekly Note from Mayor Gary L. Graham
“Traditional Values, Progressive Thinking”
The O’Fallon Chamber of Commerce and I are pleased to announce that the “It Pays to Buy O’Fallon” campaign began on November 1, 2009.
The campaign encourages O’Fallon residents to do their holiday shopping in O’Fallon. For every dollar spent locally, about 40 cents remains in the local community supporting local jobs, funding community programs, and strengthening local businesses.
Small business owners are an important part of our community and during these difficult economic times, it’s more important than ever for citizens to support our local businesses.
Consumers (not restricted to O’Fallon residents), 18 years or older, are encouraged to participate. The campaign will run from November 1 – December 31, 2009. Participation is easy. After making a purchase at an O’Fallon business, simply bring your sales receipts to O’Fallon City Hall at 255 South Lincoln, or to the O’Fallon Chamber of Commerce Office at 116 East First Street. Receipts will be verified and stamped and you will be given one entry ticket for every $100 spent. There is no limit on how many hundreds of dollars in receipts each entrant may submit. Utility bills, home purchases, or mortgage payments are not eligible.
I will draw the three winning entries during the O’Fallon City Council Meeting on January 4, 2010. Prizes include cash and merchandise.
Current sponsors are: Schnuck’s Markets, Ace Hardware, Home Depot, Frieze Harley-Davidson Motorcycles, Magdals—A Touch of Class, Wal-Mart, La-Z-Boy Furniture Gallery, Sam’s Club, Jack Schmitt Chevrolet, Jack Schmitt Cadillac, Car Credit City, Meyer Honda, and Auffenberg St. Clair Auto Mall, Ned’s Properties, L.L.C., Wildtree-Kathy Breger, Dragonfly Secrets, State Representative Eddie Lee Jackson, Sr., The Spengler Company, May Chiropractic and A&M Chiropractic, John’s Premium Car Wash & Quick Lube, and Jan’s Hallmark.
Local businesses may continue to donate cash and prizes for this campaign by contacting the O’Fallon Chamber of Commerce at 632-3377 or chamber@ofallonchamber.com.
Consumers have a choice—choose O’Fallon when shopping this holiday season.
