O’Fallon Breakers Swimmers/Families:
With another second-place finish in last season’s Midwest Conference Meet behind us, it’s time to begin focusing on a new season of success – and fun! We will officially kick off the 2010 season with an initial registration session on April 24. Below are key highlights for the 2010 season as we approach our first meet in June . . .
- Our initial Registration Session is Saturday, April 24 (from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon) at the O’Fallon Township Building. That address is 801 East State Street, near the State Street/Seven Hills Road intersection. On this day you can register, sign up for pool membership, purchase a swim suit (this is a new suit year), purchase other swim/logo team gear, and sign-up for volunteer assignments.
- In an effort to keep the team to a number effectively manageable by the Coaching staff, we are limiting registration to the first 130 swimmers that sign-up
- Practices will begin Tuesday morning, June 1 for all age groups. Specific practice times by age groups will be announced late May – once we have a more defined read on the numbers by age group
- Our first meet is scheduled for the evening of Tuesday, June 15. Our annual mock meet (and team picture) is scheduled for Thursday, June 10. Dual meets will continue on Tuesday and Thursday evenings through July 13. The Midwest Conference Meet is scheduled for Saturday, July 24 – and our post-season Banquet will follow on Monday, July 26
- There will be a subsequent Registration Session in late May – contingent, of course, on the status of our 130 swimmer limit. A specific date for this session has yet to be determined.
- 2010 Costs: Membership Fees remain $76 for an individual swimmer (and $10 less per additional swimmer per family. As an example, a family of two swimmers would thus be $76 for one swimmer and $66 for the second). The required city Pool Pass remains at $60 for a Breakers practice/meet-only pass and $75 for an individual full Breakers practice/meet/total summer pool-use pass. Family passes (full practice/meet/total summer pool use) begin at $100 for a family of two and increase $25 for each additional family member. Pass and membership fees remain the same as 2009.
- New swimmers/families are welcome! Each year, we lose some of our swimmers to graduation, transfers and other commitments. Accordingly, we are always looking for good additions to the Breakers family! Feel free to pass this flyer along to new families. Or, they can also call Coach Kim Kurtz at 830-4085 or Breakers Board President Rick Edwards at 624-7282 for more information. Please remind them that swimmers must between 5 and 18 years of age (as of June 1, 2010) and must be able to easily swim 25 yards – with some ability to swim all four strokes (Free, Back, Fly and Breast). You might mention the 130 swimmer limit as well
