Conservation Subdivision
Conservation subdivisions differ from conventional subdivisions in several ways. Conservation subdivisions work with the natural environment by preserving open space, employing low-impact development techniques, and restoring native ecosystems. Not only are Conservation subdivisions friendly to the environment, they have also been shown to yield higher-priced lots and homes even though lots are typically smaller than conventional developments. People are willing to pay more for a community full of amenities.
And while it is true that this type of development may require variances to current O’Fallon development regulations, there are many offsetting amenities that may merit the City taking a good look at it. After receiving positive feedback from the workshop, the City is eager to begin educating the community about the possibilities of conservation subdivisions in O’Fallon.
