Mayor Gary L. Graham Attends Winter Board Meeting
of the Illinois Municipal League
O’Fallon, Illinois – December 11, 2007 – Mayor Gary L. Graham attended the winter board meeting of the Illinois Municipal League (IML) held December 8 in Chicago. Mayor Graham serves as First Vice President of the Municipal League.
Illinois Department of Transportation Assistant Secretary John Weber reported on current transportation issues. Municipal League staff provided updates on the recent Veto Session and recent legal activities. Board members also heard reports from IML Budget, Municipal Managers, Audit, Home Rule Attorneys and Executive Committees.
The IML board also considered and approved the Illinois Municipal League’s 2008 legislative agenda. The agenda will consist of several proposals that address issues relating to pension reform, zoning procedures, municipal boundary lines and special service areas.
IML President Jerry Bennett, Mayor of Palos Hills, reported on new and old business and oversaw the election of Regional Executive Committee members. IML Executive Director Larry Frang discussed new initiatives for the coming year.
“We appreciate the time Mayor Graham devotes to assisting all 1,299 Illinois municipalities by helping to set policy for the League,” said IML Executive Director Larry Frang.
“It has been a great honor to serve on the Illinois Municipal League Board of Directors for the past several years and I look forward to continuing my work this year,” stated Mayor Graham.
