Missoula Children's Theatre Auditions for Cinderella Apr. 14

Missoula Children’s Theatre Auditions

O’Fallon, Illinois – March 25, 2008Mayor Gary L. Graham is pleased to announce that the City of O’Fallon Arts Commission will be hosting its eighth Missoula Children’s Theatre (MCT) residency in April.  Auditions will be held for the production of CINDERELLA on Monday, April 14, 2008 at Katy Cavins Community Center in O’Fallon’s Community Park from 4 - 6 p.m.  Those auditioning should arrive between 3:30 and 3:50 p.m. for registration and plan to stay for the full two hours.  The group audition starts promptly at 4 p.m.  No advance preparation is necessary.  Some of the older cast members will be asked to stay for a rehearsal immediately following the auditions.  

Up to 60 roles will be cast to local children.  Auditions are open to anyone aged 6 to 18 (K through 12th grade).  Among the roles to be cast are Cinderella, her two stepsisters, the Stepmother, the Fairy Godmother, the King, the Prince, Cleo the Cat, Fido the Dog, Beggars, Lords and Ladies, Mice and Pumpkins.   Assistant Directors will also be cast to aid in rehearsals throughout the week, and to take on essential backstage responsibilities.  

Missoula Children's Theatre touring productions are complete with costumes, scenery, props and makeup.  There is no cost to audition for the play, but a tuition fee (which includes two show tickets) is required if cast:  $45 for residents/$55 for nonresidents is due before 8 p.m. on the same day to retain their role assignment.  Scholarships (based on financial need) are available through the Parks and Recreation Department (contact Mary Jeanne Hutchison at 618-624-0139).  Auditioning does not guarantee a part.  The MCT Tour Actor/Directors will conduct rehearsals throughout the week from 4 to 8:30 p.m. each day (a detailed rehearsal schedule for each role will be distributed Monday to those cast).

CINDERELLA will be presented at 7 p.m. on Friday, April 18, and at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 19, 2008 at O’Fallon High School Auditorium.  Reserved-seat tickets will be on sale at Katy Cavins Community Center on April 14 (6 p.m. to 8 p.m.), April 15-18 (9 a.m. to 5 p.m.), and at OTHS Auditorium one hour before each performance.  Tickets are $4 each.

SHOW SYNOPSIS

A pumpkin coach, Prince Charming, a glass slipper and a dream come true are woven together by the magic of a Fairy Godmother in this enchanting musical.  When Cinderella’s stepsisters try to keep Cinderella from attending the ball, the Fairy Godmother enlists the help of the Mice and the Pumpkins and is able to transform Cinderella just in time for the big event.  Also featured in the production is Cleo the Cat, Fido the Dog, the Lords and Ladies, the Town Criers, the King and the Beggars. Experience this unique twist as the Missoula Children’s Theatre puts on this classic story.
