NEWS FROM O’FALLON CITY HALL
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
State Street & Oberneufemann Road Roundabout Construction
O’Fallon, Illinois – March 27, 2008 – Construction will begin on or about April 14 for the State Street and Obernuefemann Road roundabout project. Once construction begins, motorists should be cautious when approaching the intersection. While the intersection is to remain open during the construction period, there may be times when it is temporarily closed in order to complete segments of the project. To avoid delays, residents are strongly encouraged to choose an alternate route to their destination. The anticipated completion date for the project is July 31, dependent on weather.
“We kindly ask our residents to be patient and considerate during the construction of this much-needed project. To the maximum extent possible, we are trying to minimize the inconvenience caused by the project and are dedicated to making the situation as painless as possible. However, it is impossible to completely eliminate all the frustration that drivers and citizens experience, and we ask for your understanding and patience,” said Mayor Gary L. Graham.
Because the roundabout will be a new traffic feature in O’Fallon, motorists may be wondering how they will safely navigate through it. A wealth of information is available on the City’s web site at http://www.ofallon.org/Public_Documents/OFallonIL_PublicWorks/Traffic_Topics/trafficindex, including a great instructional video. Please be patient when viewing the video on the web site as it is a very large file and may take some time to download. The video will also begin airing on April 1 on O’Fallon’s Charter Channel 10 immediately following the re-broadcast of the City Council Meeting and City Talk.
