Traffic Crash Reports Now Available Online

NEWS FROM O’FALLON CITY HALL
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Traffic Crash Reports Now Available Online

O’Fallon, Illinois – April 1, 2008 –  Mayor Gary L. Graham is pleased to announce that beginning on April 1, 2008, residents who have been involved in a traffic accident in O’Fallon will be able to view and download a copy of their accident report via the City’s website at www.ofallon.org/Public_Documents/OFallonIL_Police/index.

Accessing the needed data is easy.  Simply click on the TRACView link.  The link will take you to the www.tracview.com web page where the purchasing process, fees and all associated information are explained in simple, easy to understand terms.  Accident reports are converted to a PDF format, making them easy to view, save, print and email.  Finding a report online takes only a few seconds and is much more efficient for residents than traveling to the Records Division of the Police Department or arranging to have a paper copy mailed.

“This new system will not only make it easier for our residents to obtain copies of accident reports at their convenience, but will also allow for multi-jurisdictional data sharing and searching, availability of accident reports for insurance companies, officers and citizens, and limit the Police Department in the billing and request fulfillment process,” said Director of Public Safety John Betten.

The O’Fallon Police Department has been pursuing alternatives to the traditional hard copy storing and servicing of accident report requests for quite some time.  The extensive research revealed that DOCVIEW, LLC provides cutting edge online document management technology that allows interested parties to view and download printable copies of accident reports 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

“Because O’Fallon citizens lead very busy and active lives, this new web site service will assist them in otaining needed reports at a time that is convenient for them.  Instead of taking time off work to make a trip to the Police Department, they will be able to order their report anytime, day or night,” said Mayor Graham.

Those residents who wish to purchase an accident report from the Records Division of the O’Fallon Police Department will still be able to do so.  Paper copies will remain available during normal business hours.

Beginning on April 1, officers will begin sharing the new service information with motorists that are involved in traffic accidents within the coportate City Limits of O’Fallon.  Questions about the new service may be answered by contacting the Records Division of the O’Fallon Police Department at 624-4545, ext. 2.
