Volunteers Needed for Stream Clean-up Day
O’Fallon, Illinois – April 3, 2008 – Mayor Gary L. Graham is pleased to announce that the City of O’Fallon, along with various school and community organizations are planning a clean-up effort along Engle and Rock Springs Creeks on Saturday, April 19, 2008. This clean-up will take place in two locations. The first site is on North Smiley near the bridge over Engle Creek. The second site is at Rock Springs Park. We will be removing debris from the flow of the creeks along with any items along the adjacent shorelines.
Trash bags will be provided. Those who wish to take part in this important clean-up effort should wear proper clothing. The clean-up will occur in and around water and thick brush consisting of weeds and trees. Gloves are highly recommended. Volunteers who have access to water waders are encouraged to bring them the day of the event. The waders will be of great assistance in removing debris from the streams.
“This is a great community service opportunity for Scouts, families, churches, clubs, community groups and concerned citizens. If you would like to volunteer, please contact Jon Nolan at 624.4500, ext. 3 or jnolan@ofallon.org,” said Mayor Graham.
In case of rain, the clean-up will occur on Saturday, May 3, 2008. Sign up and help protect the environment and keep O’Fallon streams clean!
