5th Annual Strange Folk Festival Sept. 25 & 26

NEWS FROM O’FALLON CITY HALL
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

5th Annual Strange Folk Festival Sept 25 & 26

O’Fallon, Illinois – August 25, 2010 – Mayor Graham and the O’Fallon Arts Commission are pleased to announce that the 5th Annual Strange Folk Festival will be held in O’Fallon Community Park on Saturday, September 25 and Sunday, September 26 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. both days.  Admission and parking is free and the show goes on rain or shine.

The event will host 150 indie crafters and artists from across the country.  Add good food, free wi-fi, activities for kids, and you have “Strange Folk”, the Heartland’s largest outdoor indie art festival.  The location of the festival is just 15 minutes from downtown St. Louis and easily accessible from both sides of the Mississippi.  Family-friendly Strange Folk was voted “best craft festival in St. Louis” by the River Front Times.

Strange Folk has gained notability for its spunky counter-culture theme and eclectic variety of vendors selling retro, punk, and pretty urban handmade crafts in affordable price ranges that makes it possible for anyone to afford one-of-a-kind handmade creations.  Notoriety has grown with national sponsorship.  Log on to www.strangefolkfestival.com to see a preview of vendor crafts.

Other highlights include Upcycle Exchange, Authors Pavilion and book signings, live blogging stations, performance art, sewing demos, open-source software, farmers market, live alpacas, animal rescue booths and more!

Printable flyers, blog graphics, and social network information is available on the web site so you can support our artists and help get the word out that it’s almost time for Strange Folk Festival 2010!  For more information about the event, email Event Chairman Autumn Wiggins via the web site or call the O’Fallon Parks Department at 624-0139.
