Veteran’s Day Program
at Veterans’ Monument
O’Fallon, Illinois – October 26, 2011 – Mayor Gary L. Graham and the O’Fallon City Council encourage the residents of O’Fallon to participate in a Veteran’s Day Program on Friday, November 11, 2011 at 11 a.m. at the Veterans’ Monument, 737 East Wesley Drive.
The program will include the recognition of the new inscriptions to the monument; a flag raising ceremony; participation by the OTHS JR-AFROTC Program; OTHS Chamber Ensemble; VFW Post 805; Specialist Charles J. Shaffer, U.S. Army; and Miss O’Fallon, Leah Wells, in addition to many others. The special guest speaker will be Reverend Jack Swank, U.S. Marine Corps.
Veterans are encouraged to wear their medals and decorations to the program. Please bring your own lawn chairs. In case of inclement weather, the ceremony will be held at the Public Safety Building, 285 N. Seven Hills Road. In addition to the monument ceremony, the VFW will again host their annual parade that steps off at 2 p.m. from Community Park and ends at the VFW Hall, 221 W. First Street. A program will immediately follow the parade with Major General Kenneth Leonard from SDDC at Scott Air Force Base the featured speaker.
