Does the City survey property lines for private property or provide quality assurance inspections for home construction?
No. The City does not provide professional land surveying or engineering services for private parties. The property owner must contract with a private professional firm to perform these tasks.
The City’s Department of Planning & Zoning conducts building code inspections of residential structures to insure that they are safe for occupancy. This process does not include detailed evaluations of the quality of the work or materials such as roofing, plumbing fixtures, heating and air conditioning, site amenities, etc. You should hire a professional home inspection firm to assess the quality and condition of the property so you can avoid hidden costs.
