1. The City supports the development of active older adults in the fact that it considers all people equally when devising zoning requirements. Currently there has been a movement among elected officials and planning staff to provide independent living for senior citizens. Evidence of this can be seen by water tap waivers and the relaxation of certain zoning stipulations that were given to Cambridge House.
2. The City acknowledges walk-ability in the fact that sidewalks are being constructed with new paving cuts and dot patterns that allow for better traction. Also the new subdivision ordinance, maintains that sidewalks be placed on both sides of the street and that street crossings are at signalized intersections therefore meeting ADA, ICC, and Illinois Accessibility Code requirements.
