property taxes have increased 40-60% and that the increase has been caused by the tax levy.
The City of O’Fallon took the lead three years ago in researching the causes and consequences of the property tax levy. The following pages are the result of the City’s research and explains how property taxes are assessed and calculated in St. Clair County.
First, we will start with the basic document that connects the homeowner and the St. Clair County Property Taxing Authorities--the St. Clair County Real Estate Tax Form.
