November has arrived and construction season is winding down. 2016 has been an exceptionally busy construction season. We were involved in 25 projects totaling more than $6.7 million in infrastructure investment. In fact, the City of O’Fallon has spent $43.3 million on infrastructure over the past six years, an average of $7.2 million per year.

Here is an update of the important projects completed this year:

Stormwater

Presidential Streets Stormwater Reconstruction, Phase 1 ($708,000): Installed a new drainage system and detention ponds in the Presidential Street section of O’Fallon.

Howard Place Stormwater Reconstruction ($527,000): Improved drainage system from Smiley to the Public Safety Facility.

Southview/Rebecca Stormwater ($374,000): Rehabilitated the drainage culverts along the creek.

Exit 14 drainage improvements ($335,000): Improve the drainage and design around the I-64 interchange at Hwy. 50.

Streets

2nd Street Reconstruction ($335,000): Total reconstruction of 2nd Street from Lincoln to Cherry and repaving Cherry from 2nd Street to 1st Street.

Simmons Road Roundabout ($672,000): New roundabout to alleviate traffic congestion at Simmons Road and Milburn School Road.

West Hwy. 50 traffic improvements ($689,000): Additional right turn lane and intersection improvements on W. Hwy. 50 from the I-64 interchange to Old Collinsville Road.

Safe Routes to Schools sidewalk construction ($224,000): New sidewalks were constructed at Kampmeyer, Hinchcliffe, and Schaefer Schools.

Milburn School Road sidewalk and pedestrian bridge ($265,000): New sidewalks were constructed along with a bridge over Ogles Creek so there is a continuous sidewalk along Milburn School Road from Simmons Road to Merriam Parkway.

Asphalt paving program ($575,000): Annual paving of asphalt streets.

Concrete replacement program ($149,000): Annual replacement of sidewalks, curbs, and concrete streets.

This was an aggressive infrastructure program and shows our commitment to maintaining O’Fallon’s street and stormwater network. Remember that you can visit the City of O’Fallon Public Works Department web page for more road construction information.
