Matthew Gilreath

Matthew was appointed as an alderman in June 2016. He is a General Manager for Chick-fil-A Green Mount Commons in Belleville, IL. Although he moved to O’Fallon in June of 1987 from England, O’Fallon has always been his home.

His parents met at Belleville Area College after his mom graduated OTHS (‘72) and his dad was stationed at Scott AFB. Matt’s love for people and the O’Fallon community was instilled and inspired by his grandfather Wally Phillips, who was longtime President of Bank of O’Fallon. His father retired from USAF and chose to stay in O'Fallon, allowing Matt to graduate from OTHS (‘98) and pursue further education at SWIC. After finishing at SWIC, Matt attended the Jim Evans School of Professional Umpiring. His career led him to Philadelphia, PA.

Matt has always had a passion for community service and has always wanted to be a firefighter and an emergency medical services professional.

After years of working in Atlantic City, NJ, Matt moved back to O’Fallon in 2009 and started a career in insurance. Matt worked for himself with two different companies and eventually took on the insurance side of the business at Schildknecht Funeral Home in O’Fallon. He really enjoyed serving the local community and quickly became an Ambassador for the O’Fallon-Shiloh Chamber of Commerce. This allowed Matt to use his gift of networking and community development. Through these endeavors, Matt reconnected with the owners of Chick-fil-A Green Mount Commons.

Matt has been a part of the Chick-fil-A team since September 2014. As General Manager, he has led his team to achieving the three highest awards Chick-fil-A offers: Symbol of Success, Champions Club, and Maximizer in both 2015 and 2016. These awards emphasize business growth, profitability, and lowering expenses. Additionally, Matt was named as recipient of the Ambassador Impact Award for the O’Fallon Shiloh Chamber.

He is a very active member at First Baptist Church O’Fallon. He does many things from leading Bible studies to emceeing larger events.

He is an avid golfer and his love for O’Fallon and sports is shown most by coaching football at OTHS. He still officiates high school and college athletics.

Matt’s goal as an Alderman is allow O’Fallon to continue to be a leading community in the region. A place where families are safe and businesses are welcome.
