Applications for Special Census Enumerators Now Being Accepted

NEWS FROM O’FALLON CITY HALL FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

O’Fallon, Illinois – Mayor Gary L. Graham is pleased to announce that the City of O’Fallon is now accepting applications for Special Census Enumerators. The O’Fallon Special Census is expected to last three to four weeks, beginning in January 2017.

“I encourage residents who are interested in helping with the Special Census to apply for the positions,” said Mayor Graham. “A Special Census will help us get an updated population count, which will in turn help us qualify for state revenues we need to provide essential services.”

The U.S. Census Bureau pays enumerators $13.84 per hour, plus mileage and paid training. Our Special Census will last three to four weeks. Enumerators are asked to work 25-40 hours each week when residents are home, usually evenings and weekends.

Most positions involve locating households, updating addresses, and conducting interviews. A few may involve supervisory or clerical duties.

U.S. Citizenship is required. Employees must be 18 years of age or older. Those working in the field must have a valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle.

Applications need to be submitted before the U.S. Census Bureau conducts job testing on November 15, 2016.

Job requirements and an application can be picked up at City Hall or through the Census Bureau’s website at www.census.gov/programs-surveys/specialcensus/employment.html. Applications can be dropped off at City Hall, 255 S. Lincoln Avenue, O’Fallon, IL, or emailed to Grant Litteken at [email protected].
