Illinois Department of Transportation Planning on Shutting Down Construction Projects Due to State Budget Impasse

NEWS FROM O’FALLON CITY HALL FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

O’Fallon, Illinois – The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) plans to begin shutting down state administered construction projects beginning June 30, 2016 due to the state budget impasse. There are numerous projects in O’Fallon that will be affected by this state shutdown.

“The state has informed us that all local grant projects managed by IDOT, including the Milburn/Simmons roundabout will be shutting down due to the state’s failure to pass a balanced budget,” said Mayor Graham. “This decision will have a major impact on on-going and future construction projects in O’Fallon. Unless the state legislature approves a budget appropriation for capital projects, all work will cease on July 1.”

State Projects that are currently underway that may be shut down by IDOT due to the state budget impasse:

  • Milburn/Simmons/Fairwood Hills Roundabout
  • Milburn School Road Sidewalk and Pedestrian Bridge
  • Interstate-64 Exit 21/Rieder Road Interchange

State Projects that are planned and may be delayed by IDOT due to the state budget impasse:

  • Exit 14 Interchange Drainage Improvements
  • Highway 50 Intersection Improvements
  • Hinchcliffe, Schaefer, Kampmeyer School Sidewalk Improvements
  • Illini Bike Trail and Pedestrian Improvements
  • Seven Hills Sidewalk (Wildwood to Carriel Jr. High School)
  • North Green Mount Road
  • Central Park/Green Mount Road Intersection Improvements
  • Milburn Road/Old Collinsville Road Roundabout
  • Porter Road Reconstruction
  • Ashland Avenue Extension Phase 1
  • Highway 50/Old Collinsville Road Intersection Improvements
  • Simmons Road Reconstruction
